So you’ve probably heard or seen the word “branding”, but may be wondering, what exactly is this branding thing?
Before I talk about the importance of branding your wedding blog, I want to first explain what branding means. It’s essential for you to know what branding is because it’ll help you grasp the value of it and how it can apply to you.
Since your brand is what people say and think about you, I would describe branding as the process of creating a certain perception in the minds and hearts of people. Everything that you share and what you do is a part of the branding process.
Now, what is in this so-called “branding process” and how does it apply to your blog?
When branding your blog, the process includes a number of vital things.
These are the major components:
• Your logo
• You message and mission
• Content and Visuals
• Website design
• Blog layout
• Colors & fonts, and elements
• Voice and Personality
• What your blog offers to readers (ex: tips, giveaways, promotions etc.)
• Who you choose to collaborate, partner, or work with
• How you interact with your readers online and offline
• Customer service (when you’re offering services or products)
Strategically branding your blog is not only important- it’s powerful. Here’s an example of the power of branding in the form of a question:
When you think of your favorite wedding magazine, which comes to mind?
That lovely magazine that just popped into your head did so because you’re a fan of their branding. This means that they’re doing a wonderful job with their branding because they came to your mind in a positive and flattering way.
Imagine if someone asked their friend, “Who are your top 5 favorite wedding bloggers?”…. and your blog made the list! How sweet would that be!
The power of branding ties back to its importance for your blog. It’s so necessary to brand your blog strategically because it determines these five things:
1) How people view your blog
2) A person’s decision to become a loyal reader
3) Your ability to build and nurture a thriving community that trusts you
4) A person’s choice to support you on social media and share your content with their network
5) Brands’ desires to collaborate, partner, or work with you.
To attract your ideal readers and brands, you need to build a strong brand foundation for your blog and stay consistent with it. Beautifully branding your blog takes a lot of thought, care, and research. Really take the time to think about what you want to express to the world and how you plan to do it. I encourage people to think of branding as a fun process, where you get to be creative, show people who you are, and what you have to offer.
You can look for inspiration on other bloggers’ websites, Instagram, or Pinterest to help with your creative branding process, but remember to ultimately be yourself and to always stay true to you.
