Carrie Bradshaw set the bar for wearing designer shoes with your wedding gown.
Ok, I’m a bit biased on that opinion, I’ll admit! I’m sure that Carrie Bradshaw donning Manolo Blahnik’s on her wedding day was the not the absolute first time a bride opted for designer heels with her wedding gown, but it certainly was memorable!
If you have a penchant for high fashion and you’re looking for that ‘pow’ factor on your wedding day, pairing designer shoes with your wedding gown is the way to go.
A couple of things to keep in mind…….
If you fall in love with your shoes ahead of purchasing your wedding gown (hey it happens!) be sure to bring your shoes along to any/all of your bridal salon appointments, including subsequent fittings and alterations.
Keep in mind that a ball gown silhouette is going to disguise any shoes that you opt for and they may only be visible while twirling on the dance floor or for that glimpse of a moment while you are walking down the aisle.
A mini, tea, or ballet length wedding dress will show off every drop of your bridal shoe beauty, but shorter wedding dress silhouettes are not to every brides liking. Confused about wedding dress lengths? Check out this post which explains everything
If you are opting for red bottomed Louboutin’s with your wedding gown, kick your heels up, Literally! Be sure to show off your Louboutin’s in your first look or post ceremony photos. Discuss with your photographer ahead of time any special shots that you’d like to get of your shoes.
Bejeweled beauties are all the rage in the wedding world, but be forewarned that they can easily snag the edges of your gown depending on the placement of the stones. Ask your bridal stylist what precautions can be put in place to best avoid any wardrobe snafus.
Not a fan of stiletto’s? Not a problem!! Many designers offer their most popular styles in stiletto’s and flats!
