Surprise Proposal Photo Shoot at Laguna Beach

Boy oh Boy do we have a Surprise Proposal Photo Shoot story for you! With photographer friends ‘Early Night’ Photography on hand to capture the sweet moment their proposal took place, Lisa & Israel are engaged!!

The tide rolled in a little early but we think it was perfect timing (when you see the photos, you’ll agree!) Lisa & Israel got engaged by ‘The Mysterious Light Tower of Laguna Beach’, also known as the Norman House, who needs a better backdrop for their proposal than a stone, castle-inspired tower?!

After the initial proposal took place, our couple snuck in plenty of cozied up moments before dashing off into the ocean together.

Who wouldn’t want to get engaged by the picturesque crashing blue waves of Laguna Beach?!

Nancy and Eddie, (Photographers of Early Night) have been wanting to take pictures of our co-workers, Lisa and Israel, for a while now but the timing had never been right. Israel messaged us about a month before he was planning on proposing and asked if we could take pictures and do a surprise proposal session. We said yes and obviously already had a good alibi since we’ve been asking to shoot them for a while! Israel planned out a day and then we went ahead and asked Lisa if they were willing to help us out for a shoot that we wanted to submit for publication. The day so happened to “work out” with their schedule so Lisa got very excited that a shoot was finally happening! We suggested to Lisa since we were publishing the photos, to go get her nails done in case we did any “close up shots of them holding hands.” Israel, being the great guy he is. also suggested to Lisa to get her hair re-done the day before. The plan was to pretend to shoot and during the middle, we would signal him that it was time to propose. Well, things did not go as planned. On shoot day, we realized that the tide was coming in higher than we predicted (we even checked our tide guide!!!!) so we told Lisa we needed to do individual shots first to get them out of the way. Lisa met up with Nancy by the old lighthouse and Israel with Eddie close by, but out of Lisa’s sight. All the while, Eddie was telling Israel that he needed to propose right at the beginning so the tide doesn’t affect anything. Eddie started putting a microphone under Israel’s shirt so we could record the proposal while Nancy was taking pictures with Lisa. After Israel was all mic’d up he met up with Nancy and Lisa to do “couples photos” up top before heading down to the beach, Eddie stayed down by the shoreline to get a different angle. We had the couple stand back to back for a shot. Then Nancy tells them to face each other and smile and talk candidly since she was going to be filming “behind the scenes”. Israel and Lisa look at each other and the waves crash behind them. He then looks at her and says “I love you so much, Lisa”…. She looked at him and said, “I love you too!” He paused for a minute and then says, “… and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you…” as he starts to get down on one knee he says, “I just can’t wait anymore..” Lisa literally burst into tears while he popped the question “Will you marry me?” Through her teary eyes, she said “YESS!
