More often than not, we see couples at the beginning of their journey to be wed via Engagement Shoots, or Celebration of Love Shoots. An engagement photo shoot is *usually* the first time a couple will be in front of the camera together. Let’s be honest, it can be nerve racking being in front of the camera that first time with your sweetheart, the pressure is on ! Some couples are natural in front of the camera and some need gentle reassurance from their photographer in order to be more present in the moment, and keep the focus on their sweetheart, and not the lens pointed at them.

Often times there is a certain ‘nervous’ (albeit excited) energy that can come across in your early shoots. Which is why an ‘After the Altar’ shoot could literally not be a more awesome idea !! All the stresses of being in front of the camera for the first time are gone, the pangs of wedding planning stress are a distant memory, and you are in that sweet spot of enjoying your new marriage.

Hannah & Brandon are definitely relaxed, in the moment, and so focused on each other it’s enviable !

Have you ever heard of the post wedding blues? (yes, it’s a thing!) The excitement and anticipation you once felt, so heavily tied into wedding planning, has passed. It seems so silly in a way because you are on the cusp of embarking on your journey as a married couple, but it happens, and it is completely normal. Preparing ahead of time can help combat those after bridal blues. Talk with your photographer about scheduling a post wedding photo shoot to give you and your partner another chance to celebrate your new marriage on a more personal level (honeymoon excluded : )

I wanted to take full advantage of the snow by shooting a couple who was just recently married for an “After the Altar” photo session. We had a blast!! They are the kind of people who radiate when they are together, something they cherish so much in their new lives as a married couple – Ashley of Elm + Evermore Photography
