Our beautiful brides planned an intimate Nautical Themed Wedding Ceremony at Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst, Illinois!
Mandy & Kate’s love story began when they were both freshmen at Aurora University as business majors! A chance encounter during the universities welcome weekend left Kate complimenting Mandy’s red hair and they have been inseparable ever since!!
When it came to their wedding day, both brides chose to be walked down the aisle by their older brothers. Many of the details included in the brides’ wedding day were very personal and DIY. Mandy & Kate took their vows in front of a quaint fireplace that was decorated with memorial photos, lanterns, blue and white flowers, and small nautical decor touches to draw in their theme. Officiating over the ceremony was a member of Mandy’s family!
Both of our beautiful brides chose strapless gowns with sweetheart necklines and lacy detail. Mandy also wore a cathedral length veil (wait until you see it!) similar to the one that her Grandmother wore on the day of her wedding. After their vows, our brides were off with their wedding party in tow to snap some gorgeous bridal portraits on the grounds of the Wilder Mansion full of big smiles, plenty of laughter and sweet intimate moments.
When it came to the reception at Drury Lane in Oak Brook Illinois, Mandy & Kate took a more minimal approach to their decor, leaving in place the decor that already existed. Nautical themed escort cards adorned with sailboats and blue & white stripes greeted guests as they entered and the night was made complete by a three tier round wedding cake embellished with navy blue anchors and nautical cordage, sitting atop their cake was a gold laser cut cake topper with the brides in a heavy liplock!!
Their proposal story is seriously the sweetest thing you will ever hear!!
Kate told me to close my eyes, that she had a surprise for me. She then began writing “Will You Marry Me?” On my arm with a pink highlighter. I immediately began to sob and when I opened my eyes Kate was on one knee and had a beautiful speech prepared and asked: “Will You Marry Me?” Side note : (I told Kate I loved her for the first time by writing ” I Love You” on her arm with that same pink highlighter) – Mandy, The Bride
Mandy & Kate opted to have an ‘unplugged’ wedding, keep scrolling to see more of the gorgeous details that made their day captured by Elizabeth Greve Photography!!
