A Picturesque Knoxville Botanical Garden Wedding

In June 2022, Carrie & Trevor decided to go ahead and officially get married before they had their big celebration. At the first ceremony, it was just their parents, grandparents, and a couple of close friends. There were some health things going on with some of their favorite people, and they wanted to make sure those people got to be there for their marriage. Thankfully, they were, and because of this initial ceremony, both Carrie and Trevor felt they enjoyed their big celebration even more.

One of my favorite parts of this Knoxville Botanical Garden wedding was the father daughter dance. Carried walked to her dad and held his hand as he walked down the stairs. Her back was to the crowd, and when she turned around, she had tears streaming down her cheeks. She’s getting to dance with her daddy at her big wedding. Something she didn’t know would happen or not. When myself and the other guests saw her face, I think we all lost it. It was so sweet and so precious and so genuine. I was wiping tears between camera clicks and was just so thankful that she has this as part of her story. Her dad is a hoot, and at one point in the dance, in an effort to get her to laugh, he said, “I just wanna start dancing like crazy!” She said, “You want to go CRAZY??” as she laughed, and we all got a little tickled.

Trevor is the sous chef at Blackberry Farm and actually met Carrie online after she thought she may pursue cooking as a hobby and started following Trevor and Blackberry Farm for cooking inspiration. She ultimately decided to not go that route and is a real estate agent, but she still absolutely loves to cook. They would definitely consider themselves foodies. The first deliciousness that happened as part of their wedding was at their rehearsal dinner at A Dopo. Prior to the meal, Trevor put together some charcuterie boards that were absolutely beautiful and delicious. The meal was then served with a bread and mozz app, two different types of salads to choose from, several different kinds of pizzas, and topped off with some gelato. It was so so so yummy. On the wedding day, Trevor did another charcuterie table that was SO delicious and they had Wells Station BBQ as their caterer. The food was on par for the Iaconis wedding, and rightly so since Trevor is a phenomenal cook!

How did you meet?

Carrie was into cooking, and the company she worked for was delivering concrete to Blackberry Farm. She looked up Blackberry Farm on Instagram and noticed all the great food they made. She followed some of the chefs there, and Trevor was one of them. Trevor ended up following Carrie back and ended up liking all of Carrie’s food photos (+ more). This made Carrie start screaming with excitement.

What is your proposal story?

Trevor had planned a thoughtful day for Carrie’s birthday for a little local getaway and proposed after dinner. Carrie thought he would propose later in the year, but she was glad he didn’t wait!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding

Carrie & Trevor wanted to keep the vision sweet and simple. The Knoxville Botanical Garden is a beautiful venue where not much decor is needed.

Tell us about your attire choices.

Carrie found her dress last minute, not a traditional wedding dress. She loved how unique it was with the quality of the lace flowers and beadwork. She also liked the little pop of pink and blue.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

Carrie and Trevor chose to splurge on the photographer, Amanda May. Amanda May is the best local photographer and she is worth every dollar for her services.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Carrie and Trevor’s favorite part of the day was seeing everyone enjoy the food from the catering company they hired, Wells Station BBQ. Their food is amazing, and they are new to the Knoxville food scene and making a name for themselves.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

Vintage Floral and Design did a great job incorporating light pink & blue flowers to match the colors in Carrie’s dress. The rest of the flowers were to be simple since the Botanical Garden had so many flowers in bloom.

Tell us about your wedding cake.

Magpies made a small wedding cake for Carrie and Trevor to cut, but they also had multiple flavors of their mini cupcakes to make it easier for guests to eat and so they could try more flavors.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

Carrie asked her alteration specialist, Jordyn White Bridal, to use the bottom part of her dress (lace with flowers) and make Trevor a pocket square to match.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

If you can hire a wedding planner from start to finish. Not just the day of. Carrie and Trevor used ML Celebrating Forever, and they were wonderful from start to finish.
