Classic and Elegant Intimate Elopement in New York

Maria and Sean were forced to downsize their wedding when covid impacted their plans. They choose a wonderfully planned classic and elegant intimate elopement that met their needs and included a small gathering of guest. We loved how their relationship started with exchanging letters which then blossomed into a romance. And then to exchange their vows privately after their first look while their guests looked on…..E.P.I.C!

Classic and Elegant Intimate Elopement in New York

How did you meet?

We knew of each other through work but after we both went on to work elsewhere we eventually started exchanging letters and developed a strong friendship through handwritten letters and notes that eventually blossomed into our relationship!

What is your proposal story?

We spent the day doing one of our favorite things, adventuring and exploring the outdoors together! Sean ended the perfect Summer night by asking me to be his wife!

Tell us about your attire choices.

We wanted something classy and elegant.  I chose light ivory for my dress and veil color, blush pink and a soft mint green lace dresses for my flower girl and matron of honor dresses, and decided to go for a navy wool suit for both the groom and ring bearer.  My dress had a high neckline with gorgeous lace detailing on the front and an open back bringing all the attention to my cathedral veil and lovely lace train.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Our favorite memory of our special day was exchanging private vows after we did our first look before going on to start the ceremony.  Sean waited outside looking toward the rolling hills and moody sky surrounding the venue and turned around with the biggest smile on his face.  As we stood there, seeing each other for the first time that day we started to forget that we were standing in the cold rain with crazy wind encircling us.  As Sean started to read his vows to me he started to tear up— we were both so overwhelmed with emotion and love! We started this new chapter of our relationship with a handwritten letter to each other, just like at the start of our blossoming relationship. Stepping away from the chaos of preparing for our wedding and spending that moment together with our loved ones watching through the barn windows was one of the best ways we could have imagined to start our wedding festivities.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

A wedding planner is an absolute must! I couldn’t imagine knowing how to structure a wedding timeline and what vendors to choose on my own. My planner handled all the communication with vendors, and changes that had to be made with ease and made the day completely stress free. Also having amazing photographers to capture all the memories.  We have looked back on our photos almost every day since the wedding!
