Modern Black Tie Wedding | Central Park Boathouse

Have you ever seen a vintage yellow taxi cab pull up the Carylye Hotel to pick up a bride and groom for a modern black tie wedding? Spoiler alert – it’s as awesome as it sounds!

Kelli & Matt enjoyed a very ‘New York’ love affair wedding with little touches of the city throughout the details of their day including wedding rings laid atop a copy of the days New York Times, getting ready photos at The Carlyle Hotel, a vintage yellow taxi wedding ‘getaway’ car and a chic springtime reception at Central Park’s famed Boathouse restaurant.

We are head over Manolo Blahnik heels for Kelli’s wedding day style. In her suite at The Carlyle Hotel, Kelli slips into her lacy off-the-shoulder Rivini Bridal wedding gown with the help of her bridesmaids who showed up in a mix and match style of gowns from Monique Lhuillier and Two Birds Bridesmaid. Long soft curls with a cathedral length veil add a layer of romance to our bride’s wedding day attire. To complete her ceremony ready look – Kelli slips on her cushion cut engagement ring, accented by a barely pink manicure and our favorite version of the modern day glass slipper, the Manolo Blahnik ‘something blue’ shoes (as seen in the Sex and The City movie) aka the Hangisi, in a shade of soft gray.

A yellow taxi makes for the perfect getaway car for a NYC wedding!!!

Matt prepares for the day in his adjacent suite at The Carlyle Hotel in a chic black tuxedo with matching bow tie and sheeny geometric shaped cufflinks, while he reads a letter from his bride before meeting her for their first look.

Our bride and groom make a quick stop at the concierge desk of The Carlyle Hotel to ‘check out’ before heading off to their ceremony at St. Ignatius Loyola Church.

After their grand ceremony, the newlywed couple dined & entertained their family and friends with a reception at the Central Park Boathouse restaurant with chic florals designed by Lenox Hills Florist, a naked style wedding cake by Momofuku Milk Bar, a basket full of flip flops for guests to dance the night away while Faze 4 played and a late night treat in the form of pull-up eats by Red Hook Lobster.

Kelli and Matt were married on a rainy yet romantic spring day, with a ceremony at St. Ignatius Loyola and a reception at Central Park Boathouse. They started out by getting ready at the Carlyle Hotel, where they had their first look right outside Kelli’s suite. The art deco theme of the hotel lent an old world sophistication that matched Kelli’s gorgeous off-the-shoulder lace dress by Rivini. Outside, a vintage taxi cab awaited to take them to their ceremony at St. Ignatius Loyola, where the limestone edifice, towering organ pipes and Gothic design provided the perfect dramatic backdrop for their vow exchanges. It rained the entire day, but even the weather couldn’t dampen Kelli and Matt’s spirits. If anything, the rain contributed to the overall sentimental mood of the day. Kelli and Matt then gathered with their guests at the black-tie reception inside Central Park Boathouse, where the night led to an afterparty with a food truck from Red Hook Lobster Pound – Josephine, NST Pictures
