It’s a multicultural wedding day celebration for Thy & Tommy!
Our bride and groom celebrated their wedding day with a traditional Vietnamese wedding ceremony at the bride’s family home before having a Western wedding ceremony at the Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis.
Thy & Tommy’s wedding day began at Thy’s family home in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Friends & family lined the sidewalk with ornately designed red and gold trays filled with gifts of fruit and cake to present to the bride’s family. The shades of red and gold represented in the trays, as well as the elaborate Áo dài (the traditional Vietnamese dress worn by the bride), symbolize luck and love to the newlywed couple. The groom’s mother adorns the bride with a pair of earrings as a part of the Vietnamese wedding ceremony called the ancestor altars. Thy & Tommy saved their ring ceremony for the second part of their wedding day celebration during their western ceremony.
Thy & Tommy chose to include a ring ceremony for the second part of their wedding day celebration.
The second portion of our couples distinctive wedding day celebration took place at the Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis. After the bride and groom changed their attire, they kicked off the second part of their day with a too sweet for words first look!
Thy & Tommy later exchanged wedding rings in an al fresco style wedding ceremony where Thy was serenaded down the aisle by the dreamy sounds of a harpist playing her processional. The couple said their I do’s under strands of twinkle lights, and paper lanterns that drew in shades of red to carry in the continued fortune of luck and love previously bestowed upon them in the earlier part of their day.
The ‘sweetest’ end to their full day of wedding celebration festivities included slices of either red velvet or pink champagne wedding cake for guests to bring home!
