Experience the Ultimate Viking Wedding

Wedding bells are ringing for Chelsea and Ackon, and what better way to celebrate their love than with an ultimate Viking wedding? This is no ordinary ceremony – get ready to don your horned helmets and chainmail, because we’re going all in. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the middle of a Viking saga. Feast on hearty roasts and sip on mead, surrounded by flickering torches and the sound of ancient songs. And of course, no Viking wedding is complete without a good old-fashioned battle – so don’t forget to sharpen your axes! With a touch of humor and a lot of love, this ceremony is one that Chelsea and Ackon (and their guests) will never forget.

How did you meet?

We met on Tinder 5 years before we got married… the only Tinder date either of us have been on!

What is your proposal story?

As you can see from the pictures…our animals are very important to both of us. Novia (Chelsea’s horse) has been with me from Prom to Wedding…Ackon knows how important she is, and decided to propose while I was on Novia at a big horse show. We celebrated that night at a very fancy restaurant, but not too late…I had ride times in the morning LOL

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding

We go to our local Renaissance Festival every year. We absolutely love the atmosphere! Ackon tells me all the time I was “born in the wrong century”. So we created our own day, our own century, of magic. We started with fairytale…and ended up with parts of both our heritages/cultures. “Bride’s House” was a forest green, pulling together with my velvet wedding gown (which was my mother’s dress re-purposed). The “Groom’s House” was a deep blue, as his groomsmen’s renaissance attire. We also wanted this to be a full family ritual. When giving me away my Father presented Ackon with a sword of protection, Ackon’s Brother-in-law was our officiant, and the matriarchs of each family (my Mother and Ackon’s sister) performed our hand fasting ceremony. Wild flowers, butterflies, velvet, leather, moss, and silver candle sticks made our vision come to life <3

Tell us about your attire choices.

My dress was originally my Mother’s wedding dress. I found a wonderful seamstress that took my fantasy of “medieval princess” and turned it into a reality of beautiful green and gold velvet! She took every detail into consideration, even down the the buttons being covered in left over green velvet to match my skirt…all while giving me something special to wear from my Mother.

Ackon’s look was more dark and manly. He was to accept a sword of protection after all…The leather bracers on his arms and the thick tall boots were probably my favorite. However, the whole look was made when he let me add wild flowers to his beard!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

We really wanted a videographer… and we are BEYOND happy that we did! Johnny got amazing shots that we will treasure forever. You don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for a good wedding video, but to watch the love all over again is truly amazing.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Ackon trailered my horse to the venue that morning before getting dressed…he also found time to bring the whole bridal party cheese burgers<3 …releasing the butterflies with our flower girls after our hand fasting ceremony, the vows IN our hand fasting ceremony, and right after the ceremony when our bridal party joined Ackon and I in this private garden alone…it was so special and quiet, we just laughed, signed our marriage certificate, and BREATHED!

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

Wild flowers! I wanted tons of color, and as if we went and picked them fresh our selves!

Tell us about your wedding cake.

Ah! The cake! My beautiful Luna Moths were put on the cake…the wrong way… but that didn’t stop our little woodland cake from stealing the show. We cut our cake with the sword my Father gave to Ackon!

What did you do for favors?

At the reception tables everyone got old fashioned “Key” shaped bottle openers.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

For my bridal shower my bridal party helped me make everything from my antler head dress to the wedding guest book…we made moss covered everything, and each bridesmaid made their own flower crown. I love them all<3

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

My wedding dress is an heirloom, and we had our family crests at the welcoming table! New traditions being the hand fasting…but I hope my family continues the tradition, it was a powerful way to exchange vows.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

DO WHAT YOU WANT! Don’t listen to anyone but your partner…if you want to elope, DO IT. If you want a huge wedding with your whole family…DO IT. Just do what makes you and your partner feel special and powerful together.
