Sarah & Chris planned an epic elopement to Miami (specifically the Wynwood area) the same weekend of Ultra Music Festival 2019!
This couple ran through the idea of planning a more ‘traditional’ wedding over and over again from a-z and it just never felt right to them. Sarah & Chris were more focused on planning the trip of a lifetime and putting off a big wedding to instead purchase the home of their dreams. Spoiler, they totally ended up buying their dream home AND having an epic wedding trip!
We’ve said it before and we will say it again – you make the rules for your wedding day!
After all of their research, and making a slight joke, Sarah & Chris kept coming back to the idea of planning a Miami Elopement around the same time that Ultra Music Festival was happening. Once the idea began to stick, Sarah started spending some time in what she refers to as an ‘Instagram Hole’ (show of hands if you’ve ever been inside an Instagram hole!) to source their photographer and makeup artist. Sarah was able to plan her entire wedding using social media!

How did you two meet?
The good old fashion way… Tinder! After being a single mum and so focused on my daughter for so long, my friends convinced me to give online dating a try. Chris was my first and only attempt at a Tinder date. I was SO weirded out by it all. Up until literally moments before our first date, I was looking for excuses to bail. My best friend Mitch convinced me to go suggesting, “you gotta eat!” as a solid reason. I went. We had dinner and sat in a Starbucks talking about never getting married. How I didn’t want more kids… At the end of our date, he got out the truck, walked around we had the most awkward kiss. But, I immediately knew something would was different about who he would be to me. We’ve been together ever since, we share a son, he loves my daughter/our daughter like he’s never not had her and share a life that on it’s worst days, it is someone’s dream.
How did he propose?
3 months after having our son, we planned a day to go and have some time to ourselves. We went to go see “The Wizard of Oz” at Lower Ossington Theatre in Toronto, ate the best bbq food. I can remember it being particularly cold, but him being DETERMINED to go and see Christmas lights, it was on December and while I LOVE Christmas, I didn’t get it. We went to Casa Loma in Toronto, but much to his disappointment, they pushed the opening of a night-lights exhibit because of THAT cold. I could not understand what the big deal was. When we finally got closer to home, he suddenly recommends we go and take a selfie with the Christmas lights on the waterfront. It was SO cold we didn’t speak treading through the snow. I had to follow in his footsteps the snow was so deep. While I was taking the selfie, he popped the ring in the picture, got down on one knee and made me cry icicles. It was REALLY cold. Ahaha
